The Hearth Keeper

Who Are We... Like Actually?

Well, “We” are just one guy, hi! Im the “Hearthkeeper”. A broke college student that wants to share the recipes that I’ve crafted and learned through a singular compiled website. Moving from country to country and city to city, one thing that I have always found myself missing is the cuisine in each region I visit. Being a college student, I dont have much of the money and time needed to recreate a lot of the dishes I yearn for to a T. But through sheer force of will and a hell of a lot of trial and error, I found ways, shortcuts, and other exceptions  to achieve the flavors that I so dearly miss.

Through this dumb page, I hope that you can find delight in cooking, as well as the flavors that I hold dear.

In historical contexts, hearths were essential for daily life, especially before modern heating and cooking methods. Many cultures have strong associations with the hearth, considering it a sacred or central part of the home. Even today, the term “hearth” is used metaphorically in phrases like “hearth and home,” emphasizing warmth, family, and tradition. While modern homes may no longer rely on traditional fireplaces for survival, the concept of the hearth still evokes feelings of coziness, security, and togetherness.

I decided to name this page “From the Hearth”, serving both as a quip similar to “From The Heart”, and as an homage to the Hearth of old homes being a place of comfort and the area that one would create food before the advent of the household kitchen. Metaphorically, the Hearth also served as the “Heart” of a home. Its a place where families would get together and dine, a place where once would place the heat in times where the cold roars, and of course, it was the domain of the caretaker of the home.

A Word From The Writer

“Remember, recipes are meant to evolve and change overtime, don’t be afraid to add or remove ingredients and form something new. Feel free to take ingredients from one recipe, and techniques from another, see what you can come up with. Hell, some recipes here were made by combining multiple recipes and techniques together and seeing what gets made. Start your own journey with food, there is no wrong way to cook.”
